What Is Rabies?
Rabies is a serious viral infection that spreads through the saliva of infected animals, most commonly through bites or scratches. Without prompt medical treatment, rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms develop. Seeking immediate medical care and receiving a rabies vaccine after exposure can significantly reduce the risk of infection.

FAQ
Q: Do I need a rabies vaccine for a monkey bite or cat scratch?
A: Yes. Dogs, cats, monkeys, and bats can all carry and transmit rabies. Any bite or scratch that breaks the skin should be assessed as soon as possible, even if it looks minor.
Q: What's the difference between VAR and SAR?
A: VAR trains your own immune system over several doses. SAR gives you ready-made antibodies immediately at the wound site and is used for higher-risk Category III exposures. See the comparison above.
Q: Can I get vaccinated if I'm pregnant or traveling with children?
A: Yes. Rabies is fatal once symptoms appear, so post-exposure treatment is recommended regardless of pregnancy or age. We treat pregnant women and children regularly.
Q: Do you offer home visits for rabies treatment?
A: Yes. A nurse or doctor can come to your villa or hotel across South Bali for assessment and treatment.
